Any technique is allowed:

  • Piecing
  • Applique
  • Embroidery
  • Mixed media

Quilt must include:

  • Top, batting, backing and binding
  • Quilted, machine or hand

 Size categories:

  • Minimum 72” (all sides)
  • Maximum 160” (all sides)
  • Round 40” diameter maximum

A short artist statement of 20-50 words is required on the registration form that explains how your quilt illustrates “TBD”.

The decision of the judge(s) will be final. Cash prizes will be awarded:

  • 1st place – $250.00
  • 2nd place – $150.00
  • 3rd place – $75.00.
  • People’s Choice – Ribbon
Additional Instructions
  • You may use any fabric(s) of your choice. The choices should reflect the theme of the Challenge: Americana.
  • Items must have a CLOTH LABEL with a minimum of the quilter’s name, city, state and title of the entry and must be firmly attached to the back of the quilt  bottom right corner (when facing your quilt.) A paper label is not acceptable
  • Entry online or by mail Deadline: September 1, 2026
  • Drop‑off challenge quilt: September 12th or 13th, between 10-4 PM, Educational Building, Walla Walla Fairgrounds  
  • Pick-up challenge quilt: September 19, between 6-7 PM, Community Building, Walla Walla Fairgrounds
